So, what is HoodieRipper?
HoodieRipper.com is the website where Chris Eng publishes his punk romance stories. It’s the online home for his YA novel Molotov Hearts and all the stories that come after it, and serves as a safe place for people who think the words “punk” and “romance” aren’t mutually exclusive and who think the scene is still capable of producing something better, both for itself and society as a whole.
So, what the hell is this site, then?
This (hoodieripper.tumblr.com) is the newsblog where you can stay up to date on what’s going on with HoodieRipper.com until the full site launches. Also, there was a series of short stories published here which act as a sort of prequel to Molotov Hearts, which is currently being serialized.
What’s Molotov Hearts about?
Glad you asked. Here’s the description:
Jenn McNabb is a girl who spends her days shuttling back and forth between her crappy home life and crappy school life, dreaming of the punk scene—dreaming of escape (and maybe that punk boy she saw). But even if she manages to get into the scene (or get the boy), will that be enough to fix her problems and change her from the girl the world thinks she is to the girl she wants to be? And will she figure out how to throw a punch if she needs to?
Molotov Hearts features punk houses, punk parties, basement shows, make-out sessions, fist fights and dumpster diving. It’s funny, sad, romantic and a novel for anyone who wants to read a story in the tradition of “girl-meets-boy, girl-joins-punk-band, girl-kicks-ass.”
Is the book just going to get given away online?
Yup. It’s being serialized over several months, with a chapter every Friday. You can read it all right here. It doesn’t cost anything. None of the stories ever will, though if you like them I encourage you to buy the books when they’re published.
Is there anywhere else I can stay up to date on HoodieRipper other than this blog?
There’s a Twitter account, too: twitter.com/hoodieripper, and if you want more Chris Eng, you can check out his Twitter (twitter.com/the_g33k) or his personal Tumblr (theg33k.tumblr.com). Any questions, feel free to use the ask box.
